Arthur (1948) is born in the Netherlands. Creativity runs in his family and Arthur’s own talent moves towards the visual arts. Notwithstanding is love for drawing and painting, he choses a career in the judiciary world. In 1980 he relocates to Curaçao and starts taking classes with artist Anna Oltheten and later Ria Houwen and Jon Sund. Since 1999 he started doing master classes at renowned art academies in New York, Paris, Berlin and Buenos Aires.
Rhythm, composition and color are the key ingredients of his work. He always starts with composition drawing and color studies, searching for the perfect balance and harmony. This proces can sometimes take months. His work shows that he raises his own standards very high.
In 2006 he decides to fully dedicate himself to the arts. He considers himself a traditional artist, with a classical style. However, he often takes side steps, applying a more playful, semi-abstract style. Without abandon he lets himself be inspired by the landscapes and myths of Curaçao. And also, he adds, by the opera.
The opening of Files takes place on September 2, between 6 and 7:30 PM. The exhibition remains till September 25, 2015.
