Alaïa Fonk
Step into the world of Alaïa Fonk (b. Amsterdam), a photographer, director, and visual storyteller known for blurring the lines between reality and fantasy. Moving between Amsterdam, Curaçao, and Ibiza, she captures raw yet cinematic moments filled with intimacy, nostalgia, and identity.
Backstories began in Ibiza—starting with that first butt. What followed was a deeply personal journey of self-exploration, of not fitting in, of dreams, fantasies, and body insecurities shaped by a world that whispers you’re not enough. It’s about shyness, rejection, and ultimately, finding your way through. Raw yet playful, intimate yet light—Backstories is not as deep as you think.
Alaïa invites you into her world through the female form, hoping you find a piece of yours. The accompanying book, Backstories, will be available for purchase at the gallery.
