Although at present John lives in Amsterdam, he has for the past 25 years considered Curaçao his home away from home. John worked on Curaçao as a teacher at the local art academy Akademia di Arte. He was also one of the driving forces behind the realization of the bronze foundry ‘bronsgieterij’. The statues for his present exhibit are made in Coral stone.

Through ads in the local newspapers John is inviting all his friends and ex-students to join him at the opening of this new exhibition. On May 9th, the day of the opening, this dedicated sculptor is also celebrating his 65th birthday on his beloved island.

At the Kura Hulanda museum in Willemstad two of his bronze portraits are exhibited. A portrait of the owner of Kura Hulanda, Jacob Gelt Dekker and the well known artist Ras Elijah.
