Photographer Monique Harbers (1968) was invited by the Zeeuws Maritiem Muzeeum for this exhibition. She has been living, working and exhibiting in Curaçao for the past few years. All the photographs in this exhibition were taken above and below water around Curaçao.
Beauty in deterioration is a recurrent theme in the oeuvre of Monique Harbers. For this series she was inspired by the corroded wrecks in the sea. The strong contrast between the sea and the wrecks creates and impressive, yet delicate image which she catches with her camera.
