On Wednesday, June 14th Landhuis Bloemhof invites you to the opening of Hòmbu! featuring paintings by Philip A. Rademaker, mixed media creations by Omar Sling and photography by Brett Russel. After the exhibition 3 Sterke Vrouwen (Three Strong Women) last May, we couldn’t leave out the men. These three male artists were asked to unite forces to share their artistic talent with us. Mrs. Lida Pandt will preform the opening.
The exhibition remains till August 12, 2017.
Philip A. Rademaker (Curaçao, 1944) is a visual artist, poet, actor, director and photographer. Through the years he acted in various series and movies shot in Curaçao. He also acted in- and directed a wide range of theater productions with Thalia, a local drama group performing plays in Papiamentu. Philip is most well known for his poetry, essays and short stories, written mainly in Papiamentu, but he is also very active as a visual artist participating regularly in art exhibitions in Curaçao and abroad.
Omar Sling (Curaçao, 1976) studied Multimedia Design at the Mediacollege in Amsterdam. In 1988 he made his first sculpture and hasn’t stopped creating since. In a seemingly haphazard style Omar transforms used materials into unique art pieces. Works that send out a message of hope for a better and sustainable future. His aim is the development of a sustainable and prosperous society. Omar strives to influence his surroundings with his artwork, by strengthening social cohesion.
Brett Russel (Curaçao, 1982) is a professional photographer. After finishing his education in the Netherlands he chose to return to Curaçao in 2009. Although photography started out as a hobby, it quickly turned into his profession. He is inspired by local customs and traditions, music en contemporary art. Brett has participated in exhibitions in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Brussels, Berlin and San Francisco.
Last day of Hòmbu!, August 12th, 2017.Saturday, August 12, 2017 Omar Sling, Brett Russel and Philip Rademaker will be present to take you on an art tour through their exhibition. The event takes place from 10AM till noon.
With this last and wonderful opportunity to meet the artists, Landhuis Bloemhof closes the exhibition Hòmbu!.
