Opening: Thursday February 28, 2018
at 7.30 PM
Opening words by guest curators Otto B. Linker and Maria Linker – Nagel,
in presence of the artist Norva Sling.
Also present: Prof. Dr. Jan Teeuwissse, Director of the Dutch museum Beelden aan Zee in Scheveningen, the Netherlands.
Friday, March 9th, reporter Favell Maduro will interview the artist Norva Sling at Landhuis Bloemhof. In a comfortable setting Favell and Norva will talk about art and passion. What drives Norva Sling to create what she does?
The evening starts at 7 pm. Entrance is free.
Norva Sling was born in Curaçao on November 12th, 1947. Clay has been her artistic medium for over 45 years. The artist’s source of inspiration is nature and its ongoing cycle of birth and death.
In 1991 Norva Sling received the prestigious Colá Debrot Prize, the highest cultural distinction of Curaçao.
The exhibition in Curaçao carries the same title as the solo exhibition Norva Sling recently had in Museum Beelden aan Zee in Scheveningen (NL), from November 2, 2017 till January 7, 2018. This exhibition was also curated by Maria and Otto Linker. The difference between the two exhibitions is that in the Netherlands artworks from both Dutch- and Curaçao collections were shown. In Curaçao only sculptures from local collections will be exhibited. Most of her artworks in the Netherlands are considered too fragile for transportation overseas.
