Angel de la Rosa at PAN Amsterdam.
One of Angel de la Rosa’s wooden sculptures is currently on display at the PAN Amsterdam art fair, which runs from November 19 to 26, 2023. His work is displayed at booth number 127, Galerie Richard ter Borg. PAN Amsterdam is an important trade fair for art, antiques and design. Every year, the fair attracts more than 45,000 visitors. The fair owes its popularity to the thousands of art objects on display.
Art lovers in Curacao are familiar with the name Angel Luis de la Rosa Gonzalez. More than 14 years ago, he came from Cuba to Curacao and worked in the construction of L’ Aldea in Sta. Catharina. Angel gained fame as a woodcarver through his wooden sculptures, which he sold via Gallery Alma Blou at Landhuis Habaai.
Gradually, Angel became more active in the Curaçao art scene. Over time, he had several solos and participated in many group exhibitions. In 2021, he was one of the participants of the Open Studio Route in Curaçao.
Angel is in the Netherlands with his family to introduce himself to the Dutch art world and possibly Europe. He reports that the first steps have been taken, with a positive result.
His participation in the Nationale Kunstdagen in the Evenementenhal Gorinchem on November 18 and 19, 2023, has been a great success. In addition, the well-known photographer Koos Breukel shot a beautiful portrait of Angel.
Angel will return to Curaçao with his family at the end of November. Back at home, he has to prepare for February and March 2024. On February 17, 2024, a group exhibition at Landhuis Bloemhof will be opened with Brigitte Wawoe, Paul Senders, and Angel de la Rosa. On March 9 and 10, Angel will participate in the Open Atelier Route 2024.
