Casa Moderna, Madurostraat 60
Entrance: free admission
New artist-in-residence, Argentinian-Arubian writer and visual artist Arturo Desimone from Aruba, is presenting a lecture on April 24th, at 7PM.
“Curaçao is known as a historic Sephardic centrum in the Caribbean. Great Papiamentu linguists of Curaçao and Aruba noted the influence of the Sephardic language on Papiamentu. Embark on a poetic adventure. Explore the magical relationship between Papiamentu and Sephardi Hebrew in the poems by Juan Gelman (1930-2014). A tradition Gelman set out to comprehend when he had no other place in the world.”
Arturo Desimone is a Argentinian-Arubian poet, translator and author of the series Notes on a Return to the Ever-Dying Lands. In Casa Moderna he is also exhibiting new drawings, made in Curaçao.
On April 30, Arturo Desimone will display his new works made during his stay here in Curaçao at Uniarte. These works got him nominated for the Prix de Rome, the most prestigious visual arts prize for artists in the Netherlands.
