Krista van der Meijden

A new exhibition in Gallery Alma Blou:

DO YOU THINK I AM NUTS?

By Krista van der Meijden.
Opening performance by Gibi Bacilio.

Date: Friday, March 9, 2018.
Time: 6 till 8 PM
Gallery Alma Blou
Landhuis Habaai.

.

Gallery Alma Blou has been waiting for the exhibition of this talented artist since the year 2016.
The artistic work of Krista is shown infrequently. Whenever she brings a collection, it is about animals. Not normal animals. In an amusing way, this artist plays with the character of her animals.

Do you think I'm nuts

For the opening of the exhibition ‘Do you think I am nuts?’ she invited the performing artist Gibi Bacilio to recite poems about animals.

Gallery Alma Blou welcomes you on Friday, March 9, from 6 – 8 p.m. to come and enjoy this evening of art with Krista and Gibi.

The exhibition remains till Saturday, March 24, 2018.

Krista van der Meijden was born in Surabaya, Indonesia. Art was always her passion. For several years she taught ceramic classes at the Akademia di Arte Kòrsou, which unfortunately doesn’t exist anymore.
As a founding board member of the former artist association ArteVishon, she helped initiate several visual art projects like Resusitá and The Boat Project (2000), in which she also participated with her artworks.
She has not shown her work in recent years because she was working on her skills and redefining her approach.
Animals are her source of inspiration, and Krista is also fond of Haiku. For instance, a sentence like ‘Put My ear to the ground’ or a Japanese Haiku about a green caterpillar. She enjoys capturing language and images in an absurd combination, and that’s what this exhibition is about.
