Tall ships. A pop-up art exhibition.

The tall ships of the Velas Latinoamérica were back in Curaçao’s St. Anna Bay harbor, after the resounding success of the 2018 maritime event. Plein air artists and urban sketchers have been painting on the tall ships of the Velas Latinoamérica, during this 6-day-festival in Curacao’s harbor, which took place from June 7 till 12, 2022.

The paintings made by these groups will be available to view and purchase on

Thursday, June 16, 2022,
from 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM.

At Art Foundation Curaçao Gallery,
Hanchi Snoa #27,
Punda.

Participants: Tanja Hummel, Marianne Hagedoorn, Quirine Guato, Johanna Duiken, and Enny Tan.

This art exhibition is a great opportunity to obtain a memorable painting of the tall ships’ visit to Curacao. Join Art Foundation Curaçao (AFC) to relive the wonderful Velas Latinoamérica Curaçao 2022, through the paintings of Curacao’s amazing artists and sketchers.

The Brazilian Navy organizes Velas Latinoamérica 2022, a major international maritime event with tall ships from Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Uruguay. It was first organized in 2010 and is repeated at 4-years-intervals. This edition started on February 13, 2022, in Rio de Janeiro. The tall ships will sail through the seas of South America and the Caribbean. A tall ship is a large, traditionally-rigged sailing vessel.

In 2022 Brazil is celebrating the bicentennial of Brazil’s Independence. This is why the honor of coordinating Velas Latinoamérica 2022 has been entrusted to the Brazilian Navy.
