Profound interconnection
The title of the exhibition, PEGASAYA SU TELA (Pegasaya’s fabric), interprets The Fool’s Journey from the Tarot deck through a feminine perspective. It celebrates the path of someone who, like The Fool, is brave enough to accept that ‘what is gained, is inseparable from what is released.’
In Alejandra Cijntje’s perspective, everything is in a deep state of profound interconnection.
Living archive
The exhibition celebrates the collective evolution toward a delicate yet strong sovereignty, shaping a quiet revolution. Within a world where the colonial legacy persists, she seeks to return to the bodyweb, treating it as a living archive. The ongoing dialogue is intertwined with the intangible, flowing through roots both visible and unseen.
The feminine perspective
Cijntje’s explorations often rely on the feminine as a vehicle, a source of being, a perspective of multiplicity, and a way of ’knowing’ that has long been silenced, overlooked, and forgotten. Her paintings engage with the somatic feelings and states of being that, for a moment, don’t require words or intellect for their validation but only the intelligence of intuition, what is seen, felt, questioned, and remembered. Her work is led by the ideology ‘it’s collective, it’s personal’.
Join Alejandra Cijntje on her journey with the opening of her first solo exhibition at The Curaçao Museum. The exhibition remains until Saturday, November 22, 2025.
