Curaçao has gained a brand-new museum: the Curaçao Interactive Experience (CIE).
Alongside its permanent interactive collection exploring the island’s history, nature, and culture, the museum presents a rotating program of contemporary art exhibitions that deepen the themes of the permanent display.
In this new presentation, Van Duijneveldt invites visitors on a surprising journey into a possible future for Curaçao. Using digital techniques and AI-supported image-making, he has designed a fictional underground metro network for the island: ‘Kompania di Metro di Kòrsou’, KMK, a (nonexistent) detailed system of routes and stations linking recognizable locations across Curaçao in an entirely new way.
Is this purely a work of imagination? Or is this what avant-garde artists do best: offering a vision of what may soon become reality?
Van Duijneveldt encourages visitors to rethink mobility, connectivity, and the future of Curaçao, imagining an island where new routes open new possibilities.
