Salustiano Martha at Landhuis Knip
Ceramicist Salustiano (Selsio) Martha is holding an exhibition at Museo Tula in Landhuis Knip.
UBUNTU
Location: Museo Tula, Landhuis Knip
Open: Saturday, December 9, 2023.
Time: 10 AM – 2 PM.
This weekend will be the final opportunity to see Salustiano Martha’s exhibition at Landhuis Knip. Salustiano Martha has informed us that on Saturday, December 9, 2023, the museum will be open between 10 AM and 2 PM for visitors to see his work. Although he seemed unsure, the museum may also be open on Sunday, December 10.
The exhibition, initiated by Salustiano, consists of 32 ceramic works. The title ‘Ubuntu’ refers to unity and equality. In Salustiano’s philosophy, one’s existence depends on others: “I exist because you exist. Our existence and its value is anchored in others,” he explains. Therefore, unity and equality are essential and a recurring theme in his work.
The exhibition has been successful, and Salustiano is grateful for that and for the support of Fundashon Museo Tula and his friend Lusette Verboom. Salustiano plans to use the proceeds from the exhibition to develop his sculpture garden in Seru Fortuna further for the public. He aims to add toilets, a studio and install a large monument.
In May 2022, Salustiano held his first exhibition since returning to Curaçao in his sculpture garden PROA-Park, with the assistance of Lusette Verboom-Fairbairn. PROA is an abbreviation for Paradise Rest of Africa. He hopes to reopen the doors of the sculpture garden in July 2024.
This coming Saturday is, for now, the last opportunity to see Salustiano Martha’s work at Landhuis Knip.
