Bai Bin at Mon Art Gallery
Bai Bin, new art exhibition at Mon Art Gallery in Curaçao.
After a 5 year stay on the island visual artist Mimi van Bindsbergen is returning to The Netherlands. Bai Bin is her farewell exhibition, before leaving Curaçao. And since Mimi is sure to be back, the title of the exhibition resulted in Bai Bin: Leave and Return.
During the 5 years that Mimi spent here on the island the people of Curaçao and the landscape made a lasting impression on her. “Paintings emerged from the earth, continued through the red sand, the coral and finally submerged under water. It was necessary to adjust my palette, which now carries many shades of blue.”
Where Air Meets Water
Mimi worked together with artist Tanya Haynes on a special project exploring Curaçao above and beneath the water surface. The art pieces made through this collaboration are also exhibited.
Bai Bin opens on Saturday May 18, 2013. The Gallery will be open from 10 AM till 7 PM.
Mimi van Bindsbergen and Tanya Haynes will be present from 11 AM till 4 PM.
