Carlo Wallé at Mon Art Gallery

August 20, 2013.

Photographs by Carlo Wallé (1971) are now available at Mon Art Gallery in the Renaissance Rif Fort in Curaçao.
Wallé presents Curaçao in a whole new way. His black and white pictures evoke feelings of nostalgia but also draw the viewer’s attention to the content: sharp contrasts in a cloudy sky, the texture of coral, trees and shrubs, the smooth curves of the sea or the complex geometry of the monuments.
Several of the photographs are part of The 52 Prints Project. For this project Wallé takes and prints one photograph during each week of the year.

All pictures by Wallé at Mon Art Gallery are printed on aluminum sheets, emphasizing the strength of each image. Without exception, each photo is the result of careful preparations and well-considered choices. “Every idea and each subject requires an own approach, the best visualization. The light and camera’s angle, the composition and cropping of the image are always crucial,” says Wallé, who studied at the Fotogram Photography School in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
