Susan Rudolf and Fine Art Mosaic

In 1999 she created her first mosaic in Vienna Café at the Handelskade in Willemstad, Curaçao. Susan Rudolf was born in Austria and came to Curaçao in 1997. After her relocation she dedicated herself to fine art mosaic. Her first solo exhibition was held in 2012 in Landhuis Bloemhof. She named it The Many Faces of Love.
This year, 2014, Susan Rudolf was invited by the International Association of Contemporary Mosaicists to give a presentation about her work at the XIVth AIMC Conference of Contemporary Mosaic, held May 21 – 24, 2014. At this conference top mosaic artist gather to promote and discuss fine art mosaic. As she was unable to personally attend the event in Vienna, her speech Instincts was recorded in Curaçao and shown at the conference. Instincts can also be viewed on YouTube.
As part of the conference 2 pieces by Susan Rudolf’s were exhibited in the Centre for Architecture in Vienna (AZW) and her art is also included in the accompanying Contemporary Mosaic Catalogue 2014. After the exhibition for the conference her mosaic art will travel to various other locations in Austria (Glass Museum) and Italy. Through her efforts she is creating interest for fine art mosaic, but she is also attracting international attention for Curaçao and the local fine arts. Her work in above mentioned Vienna Café is portrayed on the international Mosaic Atlas.
Susan Rudolf’s mosaic art will be represented in the upcoming Benetton’s Imago Mundi catalogue, a publication issued by art collector Luciano Benetton, showing work of 40 Curaçao visual artists. Apart from her free, creative work she also teaches workshops to youngsters and adults at her Mosaic Art Studio.
