Curaçao Reflections in Bloemhof
On March 8th, 2017 Landhuis Bloemhof hosts the opening of
Curaçao Reflections
with paintings, mixed media, sketches and drawings by
Ligia Römer and Wim Snelders.
With this exhibition architects Ligia and Wim, bring an ode to the Curaçao architecture in honor of the 20th anniversary of Willemstad on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
The duo came in contact with one another via Curaçao visual artist Ellen Spijkstra. Wim was sharing his exhibition plans with Ellen, when she mentioned another architect that also paints and draws. Although Wim and Ligia hadn’t met in person, their work, views and love for the city’s monuments clicked and that resulted in this special exhibition.
Ligia was born in Curaçao but has been living in the United States for over 30 years. Wim came to Curaçao in the 80’s and worked for more than 30 years at DOW (now DROV). He currently resides in the Netherlands. Both will be present at the opening of their exhibition.
Curaçao Reflections will open on Wednesday March 8th, 2017 at 19:30 with opening words by Bernard Buddingh’ and poetry by Crisèn Schorea and Lucille Berry.
