Openingwords by art collector Denise Deshotels.
Exhibition of a private collection by artists from Haiti and Curacao, curated by collector Denise Deshotels.
Deshotels also curated the exhibition “Haiti Chérie” in Landhuis Bloemhof in 2010 and has continued collecting art from both islands.
This exhibition consists mainly of work by a great variety of Haitian artists from the private collection of Denise Deshotels such as; ironwork by George Liautaud, drawings by Louise Ibels and paintings by Jacques Valmidor.
Denise has established her name in the local art scene by organizing various Haitian art and other handmade objects d’art shows, in the 1980’s and 1990’s. “There are pieces that I was so impressed with at the time, that I kept them myself, but just as with everything you love, there comes a time when you know you have to let go” says Denise.
There is also work by local artists Philippe Zanolino and Ellen Spijkstra.
The exhibition Denise Deshotels can be seen from the 22nd of February till the 16th of March 2019 at Landhuis Bloemhof.
Landhuis Bloemhof is located at Santa Rosaweg 6, next to cafe ‘Tap Maar In’ and is open from Tuesday to Saturday between 9:00 and 14:00 non-stop.
