Nos ta Kòrsou – We are Curaçao.
Nos ta Kòrsou/ We are Curaçao.
The art of change.
A documentary by Alexandra Jansse.
Premiere at The Movies: December 1, 2022.
Six creative entrepreneurs let their hair down and tell their stories:
Giovanni Abath, Sander van Beusekom, Roland Colastica, Avantia Damberg, Garrick Marchena, and Kurt Schoop.
Nos ta Kòrsou / We are Curacao is announced as a documentary about 6 Curaçao artists/creative entrepreneurs who, with their passion for art and culture, contribute in their distinctive way to strengthening the Curaçao identity and community. Through their imagination, they lay the foundation for innovation, discovery, and change.
In a major crisis like the one that arose on the island of Curacao like Covid-19, in which the self-esteem of many is at stake, it seemed relevant to Alexandra Jansse to focus on those contemporary art and culture enthusiasts who make the transfer and (co)creation of a ‘cultural heritage’* their life’s work with their works, be they material (sculptures, murals) or immaterial (stories told, myths, rituals).
Alexandra Jansse explains that the artists/creative entrepreneurs in the film have, in the past, created stunning outdoor artworks, public performances, and (community) projects in the public domain in Curaçao and have the knowledge and expertise to challenge people and organizations in the educational, cultural, and social fields to think beyond the existing with minimal means.
