
Curaçao Longest Painting

On Saturday, August 31, 2013, participants of the Curaçao Longest Painting can pick up their canvas at Tio Daou Ballpark.
All canvas will be rolled out on the field and marked with an authenticity stamp of the official Curaçao emblem and a Curaçao Longest Painting seal.
The Curaçao Longest Painting event started on Saturday, June 29 at midnight. Originally the intend was to make a 2 km long painting. Visual artist and the public were invited to join. Due to overwhelming public interest to participate, it didn’t stop as planned on the June 30, as also the goal had not yet been reached: after 24 hours ‘only’ 1.7 km had been painted. By ministerial degree, the event was prolonged with 48 hours. After 10 additional hours of painting, 2.2 km was realized and the organization decided to finalize the event. The whole canvas was finally removed from the road on Flag day, July 2, 2013.
Part of the longest painting was created by professional visual artist from Curaçao, Aruba, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Canada and the Netherlands. All canvas painted by professional artists will be auctioned on a later date.
The organization looks back on a very successful project with over 20.000 visitors. In the past weeks volunteers have been preparing the painted canvas for pick-up by the public participants.
