Introspectives forms part of the collaborative project Jouw Hedendaagse Demonen / Your Contemporary Demons, developed by six organizations from the Netherlands and Curaçao: Bosch Parade, Willem Twee Kunstruimte, Instituto Buena Bista Curaçao, The Curaçao Museum, Connections and St. Joost School of Art & Design.
The exhibition was first on show at the Willem Twee Kunstruimte in Den Bosch, from June 8, 2024, until July 21, 2024, after which it came to Curaçao to be exhibited at The Curaçao Museum from October 30, 2024, til January 30, 2025
About Bosch Parade
Bosch Parade is a biennial art event held on the Dommel River in the center of ‘s-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch), Netherlands. This celebration combines theatrical and musical arts on the water and draws its inspiration from the works of Hieronymus Bosch (1450-1516). His famous artworks are rich with symbolism, fantasy, absurdities, goblins, and demons, which still inspire contemporary artists.
The tenth-anniversary edition of the Bosch Parade took place from June 20 to June 23, 2024, in Den Bosch. The theme for 2024 was “Contemporary Demons,” inspired by Bosch’s renowned triptych painting, The Garden of Earthly Delights, which was created between 1490 and 1510.
About Introspectives
This project explores connection, collaboration, and personal demons. What happens when multiple artists and art students develop new artworks together? How do they think, create, negotiate, and/or compromise with each other? Which demons torment or help us?
After a period of collaboration and a collective creative process, which began on Curaçao, the art students, under the expert guidance of the ‘kunstbroeders’ Tirzo Martha and David Bade, together with Elvis Chen and Travis Geertruida worked on their ideas for the project at Instituto Buena Bista.
The results of their creative process were presented during the kick-off at The Curaçao Museum in December last year. Thereafter they continued with the further development of the designs in the Netherlands at the Bosch Parade.
The next phase began as the participants reassembled their experiences. In the empty space of Willem Twee Kunstruimte, they shifted their focus inwards, revealing new personal introspections.
The results of this process moved from the Willem Twee Kunstruimte in Den Bosch to The Curaçao Museum for the final phase of Introspectives: a show of the works of:
David Bade, Tirzo Martha, Elvis Kiem Loon Chen, Travis Geertruida, Steph de Araujo, Nora Boekholt, Jane Castillo, Estebe Duin Rodrigues, Zoë Kouijzer, Keithly – Son Luciana, Omar Martha, Fabio Serra and Sofie de Vroed.
The project is curated by Linda Köke from Willem Twee Kunstruimte, Joyce Pennekamp from Connections and Judaline Cyntje from The Curaçao Museum.
Artist Talk
Art talk with the current artist in residence at IBB, Chant van Lieshout.

Chant van Lieshout was a participant in the Bosch Parade with ‘Isteria Archipelago’, together with the Moss Social Club.
About Isteria Archipelago
Isteria Archipelago is drawn forth by organisms prone to pollution; they are exploited to their destruction and demise. Two deformed fish roam the island, attempting to harness the destruction and turn it into something new, beautiful, and hopeful. Although pollution takes on terrible forms, every creature tries to take care of the little worlds they find themselves in, and together, they build a better universe.
During her residency on Curaçao, Chant collaborated with IBB students, engaging them in creative exploration and hands-on projects. Her work, including “Sunflower, Mosquito, Knot, Coot”, reflects a fascination with the overlooked – from insects to found objects – and channels vulnerability, playfulness, and compassion into powerful sculptures and installations.
