
Curaçao World Longest Painting 2013
Curaçao visual artist Ashley Mauricia initiated the project Curaçao World’s Longest Painting 2013 to create a painting measuring 2 KM in length. It will be the longest painting in the Dutch Kingdom and the Caribbean. The event is taking place on the weekend of June 29-30, 2013.
Many local artists are participating in this feat. Various artist from Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and the Netherlands have arrived to assist, and preparations are well on their way. On Friday evening, the organization will start laying out the canvas on the road of EEG-weg between Aqualectra and the roundabout at Piscadera.
Everyone is invited to participate. Do bring your own brush(es).

Artists from the Dominican Republic are: Alejandro Cabral, Alexander Miranda J. “Shandy”, Aram Musset, Carlos G. Baret “KBaret”, Carlos Hinojosa, David Gil, Genaro Reyes “Cayuco”, Ocre Reyes and Pedro Veras.
Participating artists from the Netherlands were preparing their work at the wharf in Otrobanda. These are: Colourcastle.nl, Mike Freeke, Remko Koopman, Garrick Marchena, Gustave Nouel, Kenneth Olbina, Hubert Verhulst and ZEDZ. The next images are a few impressions of their work.
Curaçao visual artists participating in the event are: Yubi Kirindongo, Herman van Bergen, Marcel van Duijneveldt, Didi Dometilie, Fons Heijdens, Ced Ride, Pepe Lopez, Pito Polo, and Babette de Waele.
The pieces of the canvas painted by professional painters will be auctioned. All proceeds will be used to establish a new Fine Arts Academy in Curaçao.
